Objectives

Receive basic knowledge of AC power transmission networks.

Description

This course presents the basics of an AC power transmission system and the modelling of the components of this power system. It includes the following points:

- Architecture of an interconnected electricity transmission and distribution network.

- Modelling of network components: generators, transformers, transmission lines

- Voltage and Reactive Power control

- Frequency control.

- Calculation of unbalanced short circuit faults by the symmetrical components method.

Targeted skills

- Know the basics of an AC power transmission system.

- Know how to model and study the operation of a three-phase network in balanced or unbalanced condition.
