Objectives
This module aims to:
· understand some basic results and properties concerning interpolation and quadrature;
· understand how interpolation and quadrature are useful for defining single-step or multi-step methods for solving ordinary differential equations.
Description
The module covers two fundamental concepts in numerical analysis, namely interpolation and quadrature, and shows how they can be used to construct methods for solving ordinary differential equations. A tutorial session and two lab sessions allow students to apply the concepts covered in class.
