Objectives
1) Introduction to the main digital image processing techniques: encoding and compression, enhancement and restoration, contour detection and segmentation, so that students gain an overview of existing conventional techniques.
2) Guided discovery of segmentation approaches through practical work: from the most conventional approaches, such as mean shift, to the most recent superpixel-based approaches.
Pre-requisites
Completion of first-year courses.
